Applied Kinesiology was the first form of muscle testing ever discovered, developed by Dr. George Goodheart Jr. in 1964. He found that skeletal muscles share nervous system connections with the internal organs, meaning that by testing the muscles, a practitioner could draw information about the organs as well. This breakthrough was revolutionary in the healing arts, and the muscle-organ connection became Applied Kinesiology's foundational information source. Practitioners used manual muscle testing to assess the body's structural, chemical, and emotional health, identifying imbalances and guiding care, whether nutritional, structural, or energetic, without extensive lab testing. However, a comprehensive assessment required over a hundred individual muscle tests and could take up to two hours to complete, making it a powerful but demanding system that would ultimately need to evolve.
Contact Reflex Analysis was developed by Dr. Dick Versendaal, a student of Dr. George Goodheart Jr., who built upon the foundation of Applied Kinesiology in the 1980s. Dr. Versendaal discovered that energetically active acupuncture points correlated with weakened muscle responses, and this acupuncture point-to-muscle connection became CRA's information source. He believed CRA was more specific and easier to learn than Applied Kinesiology, and it represented a meaningful step forward in the evolution of muscle testing. However, like its predecessor, the acupuncture point connection could not gather information with the depth, speed, or specificity that would eventually be made possible by accessing the human Biofield directly, making further evolution necessary.
Autonomic Response Testing was developed by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt in the 1990s as the next evolution in muscle testing methodology. Building on the work of Dr. Goodheart and Dr. Versendaal, Dr. Klinghardt introduced a refined approach by applying slight pressure over acupuncture reflexes during the muscle test, which he believed enhanced the quality and accuracy of the information being gathered. ART was a significant contribution to the field and advanced the precision of energetic assessment. Yet the underlying information source, the acupuncture point connection, still placed limits on how much a practitioner could learn from a client and how quickly they could do so. This limitation pointed toward the need for a deeper, broader information source, one that could only be found in the human Biofield.
Epigenetic Muscle Testing within the Biofield was developed by Dr. Frank Springob beginning in 2009 and represents the most significant leap forward in the history of muscle testing. The origin of the idea came from a brilliant question posed by Dr. Springob's nutritional therapy assistant, Autumn Smith, who asked: "Why do we talk to the organs? Why not talk to the cells and catch things sooner?" That question changed everything. In order to access information at the cellular level, Dr. Springob discovered that testing had to move out of specific reflex points and into the energy field surrounding the body, the Biofield. Rather than asking one organ what it thinks, Biofield Testing holds a quantum conversation with the person's entire biological system at once, accessing their environment, genetics, emotional patterns, toxic load, and nutritional deficiencies simultaneously. Dr. Springob trademarked this method as Morphogenic Field Technique, or MFT, later known as Biofield Testing, and it has since been validated in formal research at A.T. Still University, the world's first osteopathic institution, where 52 subjects demonstrated 100 percent improvement in Heart Rate Variability following Biofield Expansion. This represented a complete paradigm shift in the muscle testing evolution.
The Brain Unwind Experience, developed in 2017 by Dr. Frank Springob and Dr. Nick Lamothe, marked the beginning of the Unwind series within Biofield Testing. The development process began with brain circuit work using bio resonator vials encoded with specific brain energies, where the Biofield itself was consulted to determine which energies the brain needed at any given session. What began as 12 posture-related energies grew into a system of over 1,000 energies spanning emotional, immune, detox, and neurological systems. Dr. Frank's own experience with the Brain Unwind was striking: after consistent sessions he found that his lifelong need for driving glasses had resolved, a change he did not anticipate and which pointed to the profound neurological impact of the work. The Brain Unwind became the first program offered in the online curriculum and laid the groundwork for everything that followed.
Following the completion of the Human Genome Project, Dr. Frank Springob introduced the next major evolution within Biofield Testing: the incorporation of genetic-based information sources directly into the testing procedure. This advancement, trademarked by the Biofield Testing Academy as Energenomics, added an entirely new dimension to what the field could reveal. Where prior systems accessed organ reflexes and later cellular energies, Energenomics enabled testing at the subcellular level, including SNPs and even codons, the fundamental building blocks of genetic expression. Combined with the environmental and cellular information already accessible through the Biofield, practitioners could now hold a quantum conversation with a person's genetics in real time, without lab tests and without guesswork. The result was a system drawing from three layers simultaneously: environmental information, cellular information, and genetic-based information. Dr. Frank Springob has described this journey as similar to moving from a World Book Encyclopedia to the World Wide Web. Each generation of informational science made the previous one obsolete. Energenomics is the current frontier of that progression, and it is why Biofield Testing is not your grandfather's muscle testing.
The Emotional Unwind Experience was developed in 2021 through a collaborative effort led by Dr. Frank Springob, along with Kelly Miller and Lauren. The process required dedicated research, including a full weekend spent energetically matching and testing emotional frequencies. The result was a system of 30 vials, each containing three energetically related emotions, yielding 90 distinct emotional frequencies in total. During a session, a practitioner identifies which vial group is most relevant, then determines which specific emotion within that group is the priority, and clears one, two, or all three as directed by the Biofield. This approach was intentionally distinct from other emotional clearing systems on the market, offering greater breadth and precision by drawing directly from the client's own energetic field rather than relying on a fixed protocol.
The Allergy Unwind Experience, developed in 2023 by Dr. Frank Springob, Kelly Miller, and Dr. Nick Lamothe, was born from a foundational insight: allergies are not the root problem. Dr. Frank long held that the real issue is the immune system's failure to tolerate the allergen, making it fundamentally an autoimmune response rather than a reaction to the substance itself. This philosophy shaped the entire design of the Allergy Unwind. Rather than treating the allergen in isolation, the procedure identifies the allergen, locates the underlying immune dysfunction, matches the two, and performs a clearing that addresses the body's misdirected immune response. The result is a streamlined, energetically guided protocol that works with the Biofield to resolve what conventional allergy approaches often only manage.
